FAQs

Ask Me Anything

Can you do big dogs?

I now have the facilities to groom larger breeds. For safety reasons, I cannot do extra large dogs, because I don't have an assistant, but if you are uncertain please contact me to discuss.

Do you have a doggie Salon?

No. I work from home. I have a a small salon setup in my garage that includes a full stainless steel dog bath, adjustable height grooming tables, force dryers, professional clippers and all the other necessary equipment to groom dogs from home.

It's not fancy, but this allows me to keep my costs way down, which means I can pass on those cheaper prices to my customers.

If you are looking for a vogue and fancy salon where you can sit and have a latte, then I apologise, this isn’t it. Maybe one day, but for now, it’s just me and my little garage setup.

Do you offer a mobile grooming service?

Unfortunately I cannot drive so I can't pickup or drop off your pets. I also do not have a trailer so I can only offer on site grooming.

I ask customers to bring their pets at the time of their appointment and leave them with me while I groom them. I ask that owners don't wait around as this causes distress to the pets. When the groom is completed I will contact you to come and collect him or her.

Will you mind my dog all day?

For the comfort and safety of your dog, I will only ever book one dog at a time (Or 2 if they are from the same household).

That means that your dog(s) will be the only one(s) with me while they are being groomed. I do not cage any dogs for long periods of time while they wait to be groomed or collected by their owners.

In the case that you bring two dogs together, I have a puppy crate is secure that your dog can sleep in while they wait, however this is NOT suitable for them to be left for long hours.

I have three dogs of my own that can be a little yappy when they have visitors, so for that reason I can't bring your dog into the house for the day, as much as I would love to.

If you need a pet sitter I do have a contact who I very much can recommend, so please contact me for more information.

I don't want my dog shaved too short?

If your dog's fur is heavily matted (knotted) it is painful and almost impossible to keep "long and fluffy". I can assess your dog when you bring him or her to me and we can discuss your options.

Generally speaking however it's very painful for your pet to try and brush these knots out so it cannot be done and we will need to do a "Summer Cut". Your dog's comfort is my priority. And a shaved look will only last about 2 - 4 weeks before their fur will grow back in nicely. (Refer to my Policy Page for more information on this).

With regular brushing and grooming this can be avoided.

Are you insured?

Yes, I have full public liability insurance.

How often should I bring my dog to the groomer?

The answer to this is “it depends”. It depends on the type of coat your dog has (short, double coated, wire coated, curly or wavy).
It also depends on your living arrangements. Is your dog an indoor or outdoor dog? Does it play outside in the dirt or mud?
Do you bath and groom at home? Do you brush his hair regularly?
These are all things we would need to consider before answering this question. Please discuss this with me when you bring your dog in.
